Melvin L. Hughes passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 7:13 AM in Mason Health and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw, Indiana. He was 90.
Born in Marshall County, Indiana on March 10, 1925, Melvin was the son of George and Esther (Ballinger) Hughes.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. Cpl. Melvin L. Hughes was honorably discharged September 13, 1952.
Melvin lived most of his life in Warsaw. It was there that he and Bonnie Lou Scott were joined in marriage on October 24, 1999.
He was a driver for Glen's Wrecker Service and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw.
Survivors include 5 sons: Douglas (and Rhonda) Hughes, Warsaw; Robert Hughes of Danville, Indiana; Rodney (and Tammie) Hughes, Mentone, Indiana; Terry (and Julia) Hughes of Tippecanoe, Indiana; and Lee Hughes, Phoenix, Arizona; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother: Edward (and Nesta) Hughes of Auburn, Indiana; and sister: Lilly Wright of North Webster, Indiana.
Melvin was preceded in passing by his wife: Bonnie Lou Hughes on July 21, 2003; 2 sons: Melvin Hughes, Jr. and Michael Hughes; 1 daughter: Dawn Weber; 2 brothers: Richard Hughes and Jerry Hughes; and sister: Betty Hines.
