Vearl N. Gritton, 66, of Rochester, passed away Saturday, February 7, 1981, at his home in Rochester.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, at Sheets & Sons Funeral Home in Tipton. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 10, at Sheets & Sons Funeral Home in Tipton. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, Iowa.

Vearl Norman Gritton was born August 31, 1914, in Cedar County, the son of Levi and Ella (Ford) Gritton. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1932. He married Minnie Osborn in 1940, in Cedar Rapids. Together they farmed near Rochester, until they retiring and moved to Rochester.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie; three sons, Darrell (Deanna) Gritton, Norman (Grace) Gritton and Leland (Karen) Gritton, all of Rochester; six grandchildren; four sisters, Vella (John) Dickinson, Ethel (Archie) Safley, Alberta (Harlan) Dugger and Gladys (Gene) King; three brothers, Walter Gritton, Howard (Genevieve) Gritton and Albert Gritton; and two sisters-in-law, Emma Gritton of West Branch and Minnie Gritton of Rochester.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Iva Hennings, three brothers, Warnie, Harry and Vearl Gritton and one sister-in-law, Leona Gritton.
