Joseph A. "Joe" Davis, 95, of the Niggs Creek community in Oneida, passed away October 28, 2015, at Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center.
Born December 6, 1919, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. and Missouri Smith Davis; sisters, Hattie (Charles) Douglas and Flossie Davis; brothers; Sherman (Lily) Davis, Earl (Gladys) Davis, George (Jean) Davis, Steve (Henrietta) Davis and Austin (Reba Davis; and brother-in-law, Alton Terry.
He attended West Oneida Baptist Church; sang with the Davis Quartet; and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Germany during World War II. He worked until retirement at Oneida Lumber Company as a lumber grader.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Eva Acres Davis of Oneida; sister, Elizabeth Davis Terry of Oneida; and a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted October 31, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Smith and Bro. Caldwell Davis officiating. Interment followed at Marcum Cemetery.
