Donald was born on 7 Aug 1918 In Aberdeen, WA. He grew up in Aberdeen, WA and graduated from Aberdeen High School 1936. In 1942 Don enlisted in the military in Portland, Oregon and served at Camp White in White City Oregon. Don was honorably discharged at Fort Lewis, Washington 8 January 1946. Prior to enlistment Donald worked for Sears Roebuck until his return to Grays Harbor County and worked at the WA State Unemployment Office. Don married Simone Celine Calchina on 17 Jan 1948 in Aberdeen, WA. They settled in the Wishkah Valley, close to where his grandfather, Swen Johnson established one of the first settlements. Don farmed the land and in 1957 started milking, processing and delivering milk throughout Aberdeen and Hoquiam. He retired in 1981. They raised four children and divorced in 1988. He married Dorothy Benedict in Reno, Nevada in 1988.
He was survived by his son Paul Carter, three daughters, Pat Calchina, Vickie Wright, and Jo Dean Linker. His son Dennis Donald died in 1962.
