Obituary of Mrs. Vonceil Goff Letort
Mrs. Vonceil Goff Letort of the St. Martin community passed away Monday, November 30, 2016.

Mrs. Letort was born on April 16, 1926 in the Wade Community. She attended the Wade School System and graduated from Perkinston Junior College, where she obtained a teaching certificate and was a member of the Perkinston’s Women Basketball team. She was employed through St. Martin School System where she taught and coached girls’ basketball. It was after a St. Martin girls’ basketball game that she met the love of her life, Fred H. Letort. They were married December 20, 1946 until his death November 23, 2006, one month prior to their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Letort had three children, Michael, Kim and Penny. Mrs. Letort lived her life totally devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. She enjoyed following the children and grandchildren’s school activities and sports events and participating with her husband in his annual National Guard Reunion gatherings.

Vonceil was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Goff; brothers, Noll and J. B. Goff; sisters, Helen Magee and Juanita Balius; and mother and father in law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Letort.

She is survived by her sons, Fred Michael Letort of Pass Christian and Kim Myron (Joanna) Letort of St. Martin; daughter, Penny Ann (Donnie) Sorrells of Slidell, LA; and daughter in law, Nancy Ryan Letort of St. Martin. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Letort, Cullen (Tara) Letort, Kimberly (Shane) Trosclair, Christopher (Mandy) Letort, Melissa Sorrells, Ashley Sorrells, and Kellie (Justin) Holland; and nine beautiful great grandchildren who completed her life on earth: Kate, Tyler, Eli, Shane Elizabeth, Bailee, Sophie, Asher, Webb and Jax.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Bob Higginbotham and Ms. Letort’s nephew Deacon Warren Goff at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, December 4, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until mass time. Pallbearers are Michael Letort, Cullen Letort, Christopher Letort, Shane Trosclair, Justin Holland and Ryan Woods and honorary pallbearer Tyler Sorrells. Gift bearers are Kate Trosclair, Shane Elizabeth Trosclair and Eli Letort. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
