Thelma Lee Johnson, 98, of Bourbonnais, passed away Tuesday (Nov. 24, 2015) at River North of Bradley.
She was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Saline County, the daughter of Willis and Ella Phillips Keelin.

Thelma married Wesley "Bud" Johnson on Nov. 18, 1936 after meeting selling Custard at her sister, Lena's husband John's Custard Stand on Court Street in Kankakee IL. Married 66 years. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2002.

She enjoyed reading and crocheting. She hosted at their Excaleber Restaurant & later years at such stores as Jewels. She liked keeping busy. Thelma was an avid Chicago Bears fan and a Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all, she liked spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are three sons, Terry Dean Johnson, of Kankakee, Thomas Lee Johnson, of Bourbonnais, and Ted Allen Johnson, of Chicago; one daughter, Judy and Tim Wagner, of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, of Kankakee, Kelly and Amy Johnson, of Kankakee, Terri Mullins, of St. Louis, Mo., and Paul Wagner, of California; seven great-grandchildren, Lucas, Logan, Brendan, Kayela, Kyle, Tim and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and six sisters, Lena, Wava, Ruth, Naomi, Mae and Vivian.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Kankakee Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Aroma Township, with the Rev. Robert Bushey officiating.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or the National Parkinson Foundation.
