Georg's gravestone is etched with the name Gregor. He may have gone by that name at one time. Georg was born to Martin Haggenmueller and Monika Prestlin in Heimertingen, Kreis Memmigen, Bavaria. He came to Illinois with his brother Johann whose decendants moved to Stacyville, Iowa.
It is believed that they came to the US in order to avoid the military draft in Bavaria.
