Shirley (Silverfield) Gold was born on January 13, 1925 in Nashville, Tennessee, and she was a daughter of Julian Silverfield (ca 1904-1968) and his first wife Elizabeth (Schwartz) Silverfield (ca 1907-1966). Her parents were later divorced, and Julian was married second to Inez -- .
She attended Hillsboro High School and was married in 1941 to Paul Gold ( -ca 1991).
An avid reader, she volunteered at the library, and for many years helped the Temple with donations. She also enjoyed all types of music and liked solving puzzles, played mahjong, and traveled many parts of the world, including China, Australia, Mexico, Europe and Hawaii. She also flew across the United States many times, visiting her daughter and grandchildren in Oregon.
Shirley was an artist and prolific with her handwork, creating quilts, afghans, sweaters, scarves and the infinite needle points, each perfectly stitched. Her generosity throughout her life continued to be an inspiration.
Still living in Nashville, she was 90 years old when she passed away on November 24, 2015.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, while survivors included a son; a married daughter; grandson; married granddaughter; her sister; and a special male friend.
Funeral Services were held at Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, and burial was in Temple Cemetery, 18th Avenue North and Clay Street.
