Earnest Cleburne 1923 - 2015
Earnest Edward “Earnie” Cleburne, Sr., 92, of Carterville, Illinois passed away 6:38 p.m., Sunday, November 22 in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion. Earnie was born October 30, 1923 in St. Louis to Earnest and Mary (Hurst) Cleburne. He married Patricia Kelly on March 17, 2003 in Gilbert, Arizona. Earnie was retired having spent 30 years as a police officer with the Skokie, Illinois police department. He retired in 1983 as a Lieutenant. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. Earnie was of the Christian faith. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include his wife, Pat Kelly Cleburne of Carterville; three children, Trish (John) Korsan of Prosper, TX, Mary Jane Cleburne of Carterville, Earnest Edward “Lucky” (Vanessa) Cleburne of Flower Mound, TX; four grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Jay Hooke; two sisters, Earnestine Powell and Bernadine Bequette; close friends, Chuck Kitchell, Jimmy Halas and Kenny Filipowski. In honor of his request he was cremated. Private family services will be held at a later date. Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City is entrusted with the arrangements.
