Alberta (Heitz) Lattner, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Bethany Home, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 30 at the Church of the Resurrection.Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Crematory, 2659 John F. Kennedy Road.

Alberta was born on September 30, 1922 in Dubuque, the daughter of Nick and Magdalena (Weber) Manders.

She married Daniel Heitz on May 30, 1942. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1979.

She married Edwin Lattner on Sept. 21, 1985. He died on May 21, 2005.

Alberta was employed at Osco Drug for many years where she earned the affectionate nickname of Granny Go Go. The name reflected her unending energy and work ethic, and became the name she was called by her 19 grandchildren.

Alberta had a deep love for animals; remembering the names of family pets long after Alzheimer’s left her unable to remember the names of family or friends. She instilled in her children a love of travel and of entertaining. There were always cookies in the cabinet and a cold drink for anyone who stopped to visit.

No matter the circumstance, Alberta would find the good in people and in situations. She will be remembered for her kindness and compassion.

She was also preceded in death by a stepson Edwin Lattner; sisters, Rose Schmitt and Vi Schadler; and brothers, Marvin and Ervin Manders.
