Clarence Elvin "Jiggs" Ash, age 87, of Kingwood (Kanes Creek Community) passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, April 23, 2015, at his home with family by his side.
Clarence was born on October 27, 1927 in Elizabeth, Wes Virginia; a son to the late Thomas Doyle and Eliza Jane (Smith) Ash.
Clarence worked as a welder and was self-employed in the construction business. He served in the United States Army following World War II during the post-war occupation of Japan and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by four sons: Terry Ash, of Arthurdale; Tim Ash and wife Diane, of Kingwood; Keith Ash and Phyllis, of Arthurdale; and Kevin Ash, of North Carolina; three daughters: Tamara Pyles and husband Brian, of Fairmont; Cheryl Hovatter and Bill Jones, of Kingwood; and Melissia DeWitt, and husband David, of Kingwood; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters: Betty Goff, Vonda Nichols, and Wilma Jean Maze; special friends Raymond and Kay Wolfe.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Nola (DeWitt) Ash, who passed away on October 20, 2008; two daughters-in-law, Penny Ash and Debra Ash.
Friends will be received at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville on Sunday, April 26, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 12pm with the Rev. David D. Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton where full military honors will be accorded. In lieu of flowers make donations in memory of Jiggs Ash to: VFW Post #826, P.O. Box 172, Kingwood, WV 26537.
