Laverne was born on July 1, 1925, to John Williamson and Finnis Corley Williamson, in Garrison, Texas. She was known to be very kind to everyone she met. She was the epitome of the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. Laverne was a very strong and generous person. She loved football and basketball. Laverne also enjoyed cooking for her family, whose favorite dish was her bunny rabbit pancakes. Laverne found most pleasure in cooking for her wonderful husband, to whom she was very devoted. He could depend on two cooked meals every day. She always enjoyed making everyone around her very happy. She also sewed blankets for children and made other things to donate to charities as well. In her leisure time, Laverne enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her loving family. She loved her Lord and Savior. Laverne played the piano at her church, and although she could read music, she had a natural talent for playing by ear.
Laverne is survived by her daughters, Patricia Roak and husband, Owen, Rebecca Moon and her husband, Edward, Sharon Clinch and her husband, Stephen, and Linda Coffin and her husband, P.D. ; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Joe Cordell; parents, John and Finnis Williamson; son, Joe Cordell; and brother, Buddy Williamson.
