Wayland Acker, 81, of Pampa, died November 24, 2015 in Pampa.

Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 30, 2015, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Acker was born October 19, 1934 in Fisher County, Texas and came to Gray County from Fisher County in 1952. He married Donna Crossman on October 23, 1954 in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Wayland worked for National Tank Company for a few years and Gray County Pct. 3 for about ten years. In 1954, he entered the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a corporal. Wayland farmed and ranched in Gray County from 1957 until his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a board member of both Hopkins and Grandview-Hopkins schools. Wayland was a board member of Farm Bureau. He loved his family very much and enjoyed the outdoors with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Acker of the home; his daughter, Trinidee Acker Kremer and husband Doug of League City; his son, Greg Acker and wife Lisa of Pampa; a grandson, Kristopher Jones and wife Abby of Artesia, New Mexico; three granddaughters, Lauren Acker of Lubbock, Haley Kuhn and husband Dustin and Hilary Acker, all of Pampa; two great grandchildren, Cayden and Coby Joy of Artesia, New Mexico; three brothers, Dean Acker of Fort Worth, Harvey Acker and wife Jeanine of Monahans, and James Acker and wife Sugar of Pecos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Madie Acker.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Drive, Suite 110, Amarillo, Texas 79106; or First Baptist Church, PO Box 621, Pampa, Texas 79066-0621.

The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:30 PM Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
