LOS ANGELES (AP) –– Jesse W. Yarbrough, 43, a hemophilia victim, died after he was shot in the back while walking from his Boyle Heights home, police said.
Yarbrough, a merchant seaman, was rushed to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center just after the shooting Sunday [28 April 1968] , but doctors could not stem the bleeding.
Police said a companion of Yarbrough told them two men chased them for about a block and then one of them fired the fatal shot from a pistol.
The companion, Domingo Garcia, said the two assailants fled in a car.
