Leah was a daughter of Johann Peter Wirtz (1800-1856) and Catharine Reihl (1803-1878). She was born in Wilmot Twp; in 1838. Canada Museum und Aligemeine Zetung (1835-1840)
Birth Date; Feb. 27, 1838.

Around 1857 she married John Schwartz and they resided in Berlin the rest of their life.

Leah gave birth to 5 known children in Waterloo County.
1. Angeline M. Schwartz (Doering) 1858-1935.
2. Ida C. Schwartz (Packer) 1861-
3. Melvina C. Schwartz (Shuh) 1864-1956.
4. Emma N. Schwartz (Wiederhold) 1867-1946.
5. Clara Schwartz (Buchanan) 1869-

Cause of Death; Carcinoma.
Death Age; 75 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Death Location; 29 Francis St; Berlin.

MRS. JOHN SCHWARTZ.
Death removed one of the oldest residents of the community in the person of Mrs. John Schwartz who passed away at her home 29 Francis street South, on Sunday evening, May 4th after a month's illness. She had lived in the same locality nearly sixty years and by her kindly Christian disposition she enjoyed the confidence and love of a large circle of friends who deeply regret her departure. he is survived by a sorrowing husband and five daughters, Mrs. Frederick Doering and Mrs. Levi Shuh of Waterloo, Mrs. John Packer, Buffalo, N.Y., Mrs. B. Stuart Bucha- nan of Rochester, N.Y., Mrs. J. II. Wiederhold, Berlin.

The funeral took place on afternoon at two o'clock Monday from the family residence, to Zion Evangelical church thence to Mount Hope cemetery.
