Benedict "Ben" Kizewski, 73, Sonoma, CA passed away peacefully on October 18, 2015. Ben was born on September 3, 1942 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Mary Waldoch and Ben Kizewski. Ben had 12 brothers and sisters he grew up with. At the age of 18 Ben enlisted in the U.S. Army.
He received several decorations and medals for his profound service; Vice Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (6th award), Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm, Army Commendation Medal (3rd OLC), Overseas Service Bars (2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and NCO-Professional Deployment Ribbon (3). Ben was Honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on May 31, 1983.
He retired as a Master Sergeant (E8). After retirement Ben worked as a Hospitality Manager for a vacation villa in Sonoma County. For 10 years he enjoyed entertaining the guests in what he would describe as "the most beautiful country in the world". Ben enjoyed walking, reading and most of all people watching in the Sonoma Plaza. In his own words, "I love, love, love living in Sonoma". He truly did!
Benedict was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Ben Kizewski; his brothers Eugene, Jerome, Germaine, Thomas; his sisters Violet, Gladys and Doris. He is survived by his children, his son Kevin (Gloria) from Colorado Springs, CO; his son Ken (Jill) from Poquoson, VA; his daughter Karie (Mark) from Centennial, CO; his grandchildren Meghan, Karly, Kelsey, Caleb and Bryce; his great granddaughter Blayre; his brother Norman; his sisters Adeline, Rita, Patricia and Marilyn.
Graveside Committal Service, Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery, 90 1st Street West, Sonoma, CA, 95476, Tuesday October 27th at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to the , National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
