Elsie Thompson, age 83, of Pickerington, went home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2015, at 4:05 PM. At Mt. Carmel East Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio. Elsie was born to Fred Baker and Mary Frosch/Baker in Schenectady, New York on December 2, 1931. Elsie Became a Red Cross Nurses Aide June 5, 1967 She married Ernest Tidball on May 1, 1948 at the Second Reformed Church in Schenectady, NY. , and lost him after 25 years of marriage. On 27 Jan 1976 she married Wallace Thompson, in Reynoldsburg at the East Livingston Baptist Church, and had 25 years of marriage till he passed away. Elsie was known for many things, including her faith in God, and serving in her church, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio. Her love of garage sales, thrift stores, gin rummy, a few of her saying were "She had a degree in underwater sneaker repair, and if asked what's for dinner she would say" Fish heads, and rice"and she loved to joke around and always had a good comeback to anyone joking with her. She lived her life by giving to others, especially by crocheting hundreds of afghan blankets for others over the years, often seeking out complete strangers in need. She wrote an unpublished book of her life called "Without Rain Their Could Be No Flowers" detailing her childhood of abuse by her father, and being placed in a mental institution by him. She gave the book to many people who needed inspiration in their lives. Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Ernest C. Tidball, second husband Wallace Thompson, her brother Harry St. Pearre and her sisters Ida Tidball and Betty Smith. She is survived by her sister, Pat Mitchell. She was a beloved and loving mother to children, Ernest (Rose Mason)Tidball, Ken (Deborah Roberts)Tidball, Carl Tidball, Donald Tidball, David (Rose Meeks) [Tidball][adopted by step father] Thompson, Debbie (John Fredrich), and Cheryl (Bill Geng); step-children, Brian Thompson, Rick Thompson, Laurie Thompson, and Roger Thompson, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 4701 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232. Pastor Tony Luizzo presiding over services. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
