Services Friday For Mrs. Millar: Funeral services for Mrs. Dana Slaughter Millar, 89, retired Baptist Missionary, a resident of 820 Arlington Street, will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. from Wright and Ferguson chapel, with the Rev. Odean Puckett, associate pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. She died Wednesday night at a local nursing home.
A native of Bedford county, Tenn., she was a former resident of Winchester, Tenn., and had taught school in Conway, Ark., and Oklahoma City, Okla. She had lived in Jackson since 1946.
Mrs. Millar was a missionary in China for 20 years; was a teacher at Shantung University in Shanghai, and was evacuated from China at the outbreak of World War II.
She was a member of the First Baptist church here, and taught the Fidelity Sunday School Class. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her survivors are four nieces, Miss Elizabeth Harrell of Jackson, Mrs. M. S. Hardcastle of College Park, Md.. Mrs. E. M. Crosthwait and Mrs. Raymond Satterwhite, both of Dallas, Tex.; four nephews, Benjamin Harrell of New York City, W. O. Harrell of Jackson, D. S. Bell and G. S. BelL both of Dallas, Tex.; and several great nieces and great nephews. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m., Winchester Cemetery. Winchester, Tenn.
