David Romia Ballinger, 77, of Roanoke County, passed away Friday, November 6, 1998, at his residence. He was a retired dispatcher for Pilot Freight and served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was also a recipient of the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Gracie Hartman Ballinger; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton and Gaye Ballinger, Roanoke, Larry and Bonnie Ballinger, Glade Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Gary Edwards, Vinton, Linda and Fred O. Hall, II, Boones Mill; twelve grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Monday, November 9, 1998, from the Lotz Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Harry E. Hudson officiating. Burial to follow in Hartman Family Cemetery, Roanoke County. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday at the Lotz Roanoke Chapel.
