Born in Catawba, he was a son of the late Floyd and Carrie Varnadore Peay and was of the Baptist faith. Bill was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Peay retired as a hospital administrator and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and cooking with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and "Pap" and was also known for being a jokester.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann Ruth Peay; daughters, Sherry (Thom) Cogger, Trudy Wingard and Mitzi (Todd) Berry; son, Mike Peay; grandchildren, Robyn, Jay, Tabitha, Josh, Ben, Britni and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Amelia, Grady and Benjamin; sisters, Louise Simpson and Mary Blair; and brothers, Wyndell and Charles Peay.
