He attended Gannon College and went into an apprenticeship at Pendleton Tool Co. in Erie, Pa. where he worked his way up to President of the company. He worked there for forty-plus years, and after retiring, he stayed on as a consultant. He also served in the U.S. National Guard and was a member of the VFW Post #4965. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, all the Cleveland Sports teams, and working crossword puzzles.
Besides his parents, Gale was preceded in death by his wife, Judith A. Nickels Carr; two brothers: Norman and Harry Carr; and five sisters: Alice Fouts, Shirley Stevens, Elaine Beery, Jean Hagerty, and Barbara Burt; and also by his sister-in-law, Pearline Carr; and a son-in-law, Thomas Payne.
Gale is survived by his three daughters: Cheryl A. Carr Payne of Conneautville, Pa., Gayle Lynn "Rock" Wettekin (Richard) of Erie, Pa., and Laura Lee Carr Loughner (Wayne) of Conneautville, Pa.; and a son, Eric Gale Carr of West Springfield, Pa. He is also survived by a sister, Mary Beaver (Ray) of North Carolina and three brothers: Dennis Carr (Cindy) and Darrel "Deke" Carr, both of East Springfield, Pa., and Russell Carr of Charleston, S.C.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his steadfast family dog and buddy, "Buck" Onyx.
