A. R. Martin, 66, Dies at Sweetwater
Sweetwater, Dec. 19 - A. R. Martin, 66, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday at Sweetwater Hospital. He had been ill for two weeks.
Born Jan. 28, 1887 [sic] in Freestone County, Mr. Martin was married to Zada Tyler on July 24, 1919. He was a Sweetwater resident for a number of years.
Funeral services will be conducted here at 2 p.m. Monday at the Pentacostal Church of God with the Rev. H. F. Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial in Sweetwater Cemetery. Patterson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Lloyd Smith, Gerald Shifflett, Lynn Clark, Cal Shifflett, Lloyd Pugh and Carl Chapman.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. L. H. Shirley of Dallas, Mrs. M. L. Burnett, Mrs. Jesse Weatherford and Mrs. Wayne Millett, all of Sweetwater; two sons, Thomas E. Martin and James A. Martin, both of Dallas; one brother, P. L. Martin of Teague; one sister, Vada Bottoms of Teague; two step-children, Mrs. A. R. Simmms of Brownsville and Lloyd Wadlington of Sweetwater; and 19 grandchildren.
