Donald LaRoy Davis, age 84, of Mecosta, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at his home.
A Memorial Service for Donald will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the East Superior Christian Church, 605 East Superior Street, Alma, MI. Dr. James Amstutz will officiate.
Donald was born on May 15, 1929, in Saginaw, the son of Harley and Alice (Schautz) Davis. He served in the United States Army from 1947-1949. He worked for 30 years for the Dow Chemical Company in the railroad department, retiring in 1979. Donald married Sadie Mildred Griffith on June 18, 1950, in Mt. Pleasant. Sadie preceded Donald in death on April 14, 2013. Donald enjoyed hunting and fishing and together he and Sadie traveled out west to Colorado and Wyoming each year to hunt. Donald also enjoyed playing cards.
Donald is survived by his children, Donald (Cathy) Davis, Jr., of Mecosta, Dianna (William) Kappler and William (Kathy) Davis, both of Mecosta; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Cora (Lloyd) Ropp of Mecosta and Ruthann Krotzer of Sanford.
