Sweetwater Pioneer's Rites Today

Sweetwater, Nov. 22 - Funeral for Mrs. Lucien Faber, 80, a resident of Sweetwater 64 years, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, where her father, the late Rev. R. A. Lee, was once pastor.

Mrs. Faber had been ill the last three months with a heart ailment and died at her home here, 201 E. 1st St., at 3:15 a.m. Saturday. She spent eight weeks in a local hospital before being moved back to her residence. Her only sister, Mrs. W. H. McCracken of Billings, Mont., has been with her since she was stricken in August.

Born Lula Lee in Forrest City, Ark. on Mar. 5, 1872, she moved to Sweetwater with her parents in 1888 when her father became pastor of the First Baptist Church here. She was married to Lucien Faber, well-known building contractor, on April 10, 1889. Mr. Faber died in 1936.

Mrs. Faber was a leader in Baptist church activities here until failing health forced her to retire several years ago. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

The Rev. George R. Wilson, First Baptist Church pastor, will conduct final rites and Cate-Spencer Funeral Home will direct burial at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Survivors, in addition to her sister, include four daughters, Mrs. R. T. Jolly and Mrs. Osborne O'Rear, both of Sweetwater, Mrs. Austin Altizer of Dallas, and Mrs. Clarence Nesbitt of Colorado City; two grandchildren, Mrs. Jimmy Sorrells of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. W. C. Adams of Sweetwater; and one great-granddaughter, Cidy Sorrells of St. Paul.
