Christopher DeBusk married Anna Lavinia McDonough and lived in Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas. They had one child Nilie Joe DeBusk Prater. He died 17 September 1907 in Nolan County, Texas of Bright's Disease.
He left Lee County, Virginia in 1868 for Texas with a party of 10, which included his brother Elias's family. The party consisted of Elias, his wife Martha Edmondson, their children (Elijah, Susan, and William Andrew) and their spouses. They settled in Collin County, Texas until 1875. Hearing of cheap land, they moved to Brown County, Texas and settled on the south side of Pecan Bayou just south of Cross Cut, Brown County, Texas.
Christopher moved to Sweetwater, Nolan County, Texas in 1898 along with Walter Andrew Prater's family. In 1900 they moved with the Praters to Fisher County, Texas. He bought 800 acres joining Walter Andrew Prater's farm.
Christopher was a first sergeant with the 21st Battalion, Virginia Infantry. He later joined Company H, 27th Battalion Virginia Mounted Rifles, 25th Virginia Cavalry. He is listed in the 1850 Washington County, Virginia census and the 1860 Lee County, Virginia census as the son of Palser DeBusk and Sarah Surber age 5 and 14 years old. Source of birth and marriage is the family bible of Palser DeBusk and Sarah Surber.
