JOHN L. BYRNE

John L. Byrne, 69, of Sweetwater died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, in the McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Mike Ensminger and Ernest Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery.

Mr. Byrne was born on Feb. 2, 1936, in Brown County. He married Noma Ware on July 14, 1956, in Sweetwater. Mr. Byrne was a member of Normandy Ave. Church of Christ. He was a truck driver for Pace Packing and U.S. Gypsum. Mr. Byrne was in the National Guard for nine and one-half years and lived in Sweetwater since 1946.

Survivors include his wife, Noma Byrne of Sweetwater; two daughters, Jackie Ray of Aransas Pass and Jeneta Layman and her husband, Loyd, of Bay City; two sons, Jay Byrne of Spokane, Wash., and Jamey Byrne of Allen; one sister-in-law, Oma Byrne of Bronte; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph B. Byrne and Lola Bell Byrne; and two brothers.
