Walter George Brix, 53, president of the Walter G. Brix Lumber Company at Briceland, died at his home in Benbow Friday morning after a heart attack.

He was prominent in business circles in southern Humboldt and in the lumber industry. He was a native of Astoria, Oregon, came to this area from Aberdeen, Washington, and had resided at Benbow for the past three years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marie Brix of Benbow; two daughters, Mrs. Enid Wakefield of Briceland and Mrs. Kathleen Kirkback of Seattle; two brothers, H. H. Brix of Los Angeles and E. A. Brix of San Carlos; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Dunbar of Boulder, Colorado, and Mrs. Ann Hauschildt of Portland.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Cooper Mortuary Chapel of the Ferns, under arrangements of Hunter and Wise of Fortuna. The Rev. Kenneth Samuelson will officiate and the Masonic Lodge of Garberville will participate. Cremation will follow at the Ocean View crematorium.
