Ron was born August 20, 1934 to George and Florence (Aye) Sterner in Atalissa, IA. Ron graduated from Atalissa High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Ron managed Union Supply in Davenport, IA and later retired from the Davenport Community School District, where he worked as a bus driver for many years.
Ron enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. In his retirement years Ron enjoyed woodworking making Intarzia projects. He took great pride in teaching his grandson Colton this craft. He also enjoyed his many trips to the gambling boat with his brothers.
Private family services will be held.
Private inurnment will take place at the Oakdale Cemetery, Wilton, IA.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Carol of Eldridge, IA, his children from a previous marriage: Cindy (Jerry) Waite of Davenport, IA, Sandy Zmuda of Eldridge, IA, Rhonda Sterner of Lost Nation, IA, Wayne Sterner of Davenport, IA and Brian Hintermeister of Calamus, IA, 5 grandchildren: Daniel, Nichole, Matthew, Kayla and Colton, his brothers: Ray Sterner of Davenport, IA and Darel (Donna Fae) Sterner of West Liberty, IA, his sister-in-law Dolores Sterner of Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Clarence and Dean Sterner, his sister Erma Black, his sister in law Ruth Sterner and his nephew David Sterner.
Memorial donations may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA, in his memory.
