Irma Anderson, 78, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away Friday, Nov. 13, 2015 at Madison Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family.,

Irma was born May 23, 1937 in Riverside, Idaho, to Carl Albert “Hoot” Anderson and Leona Bitton Anderson. She loved her growing up years on the family farm in Mackay, and then lived the majority of her life in Rexburg, Idaho.

Irma graduated from Mackay High School and then attended Ricks College. After graduating from Ricks College, she attended Utah State University receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.

Irma began her teaching career in Las Vegas, NV, Tacoma, WA and Anchorage, AK. She spent the majority of her professional career teaching Business and Accounting classes at Ricks College. She served as Dean of the College of Business and Communication at Ricks College. She was assigned to set up the business office at the BYU-Jerusalem Center when it first opened. She was appointed to finish a term on the Rexburg City Council and enjoyed her time of service.

Irma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous callings and later served a mission in the California Anaheim Mission. She also enjoyed serving in the Rexburg Idaho Temple.

One of Irma’s greatest joys was her association with her 11 nieces and nephews. She loved each of them along with their families. She loved supporting them and her great-nieces and great-nephews in their educational endeavors, LDS missions and other various activities. In return, her nieces and nephews loved her and always said, “Everyone needs an Aunt Irma”.

Irma enjoyed family history, snow skiing, traveling, and attending concerts and sporting events with friends and family. She was blessed to have wonderful friends and enjoyed her association with them.

She is survived by her two brothers: Marlin Dale (Judy) Anderson, of Mackay, and Daryl Glenn (Sharon) Anderson, of Gooding; 11 nieces and nephews and their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20, at the Mackay LDS chapel. A visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Mackay chapel prior to services.

Interment will be in the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery in Mackay.
