Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth “Granny” Summit, age 90, of Poynor, are scheduled for 10:00 o’clock in the morning, Thursday November 19, 2015 at Autry Funeral Chapel in Frankston with Rev. Scott Brown officiating.
Mrs. Summit passed away Friday, November 13, 2015 in Poynor.
She was born March 26, 1925 in Frost, to Stanley Howard Sr. and Alma Lois Coggins Greenhill.
Dorothy was a homemaker.
She loved her family and was an avid reader of great westerns.
She also quilted and enjoyed eating from the bounties of her vegetable garden.
Dorothy painted oil portraits for Olan Mills Studios in Dallas in her younger years.
She was a member of Lakenon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Stanley and Alma Lois Greenhill, Sr., husband; Creo Alec Summit, granddaughter; Valarie Price, great granddaughter; Katlin Price Nelson, sons in-law; Spencer Nelson and David Price and a brother Stanley Howard Greenhill, Jr.
Left to mourn her passing are her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Rivers and wife Dee of Richardson, John Summit and wife Alexis of Keller, daughters and son in-law; Nancy Price of Sunset, Pam Stinson and husband Jim of Poynor. There are ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be; Jason Stinson, Justin Stinson, Trafton Morgan, Byron Summit, Jonathan Summit and Jennifer McClenaghan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Summit and Vaughn Brooks.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, November 18, 2015 and friends are cordially invited to visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. in the evening at Autry Funeral Home, Frankston.
