Ray A. Arickx, Jr., age 72, of St. Ansgar and formerly of Mitchell, died Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage. Cremation has taken place.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

Raymond A. Arickx, Jr. was born December 5, 1942, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Juanita (Adams) and Raymond Arickx, Sr. He lived in and attended school in Mitchell before graduating from Osage High School in 1960. Ray married Carol Ann White on April 20, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. They made their home in Mitchell until 1995 when they moved to St. Ansgar. Ray worked at White Farm, and then as a mechanic and machinist at various businesses in Osage. He was a racing enthusiast since the 1960’s when he owned a stock car (number 60). He loved following NASCAR and stock car races in the area. Ray was best known for and prided himself on his innovative ways of repurposing and repairing what everyone else would consider junk.

Ray is survived by his daughter, Angela Arickx of St. Ansgar; his son, Paul (Kelly) Arickx of Nora Springs, and their children, Emma, Samuel, Sadie and Margaret; his son, Dan (Dawn) Arickx of Rock Falls, Illinois, and their children, Sydney, Madison and Makenna; his sister, Janice (Elmer) Schonrock of Winnebago, MN and his brother, Mark Arickx of Osage;

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Arickx in 2005; two brothers, Donald and Charles Arickx.
