Funeral services for Lee E. Rohwer, 63, of 814 Ten Mile Road, Lynden, will be at 1:30 pm Monday in the chapel of Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden. The Rev. Sharon Hare will officiate. Mr. Rohwer died Thursday at his home following a long illness.
He was born on Dec 12, 1297, in Bellingham to Victor and Lucille Rohwer. Proud of his German heritage, he was a third generation Rohwer to live on the Ten Mile Road homestead settled by his grandfather, Jacob Rohwer.
Mr. Rohwer was graduated from Meridian High School. He was self-employed as a truck driver in the construction industry until his retirement.
He married Fern Jordan on Nov. 28, 1964 in Ferndale. She survives him at the family home.
Mr. Rohwer enjoyed bay fishing, boating, people, and especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bellingham Moose Lodge No. 493 and the Antique Tractor Association of Lynden.
Other survivors include his son Darryl of Lynden; daughter Deidre Pruess of Sitka, Alaska; stepsons Ron Jordan and Wayne Jordan, and stepdaughter Diane Clark, all of Sumas; his brother Richard Rohwer of Bellingham; 13 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Glen Rohwer and Vic "Jack" Rohwer.
Burial in Ten Mile Cemetery will follow the service.
The family suggests memorials to the charity of one's choice.
