Found in The State 30 January 1972: Mrs. J. M. Walker Sr., 88, of 3201 Makeway Dr., died Saturday morning in a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, conducted by Dr. Robert L. Deneen and Dr. Paul Wheeler. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Walker is the former Susan Caldwell, daughter of the late Thomas and Susan Marsh Caldwell of Colleton county. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Thelma) Moody of Spartanburg; two sons, J. M. Walker Jr., and David T. Walker, of Columbia; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Crosby of Charleston and Mrs. Oliver Padgett of Apison, Tenn.; and two brothers, Walter Caldwell of Lodge and Huey Caldwell of Walterboro.
