Obituary, Memphis Reville, Memphis Missouri, January 1909
"Susan Hyde, daughter of Stephen and Rebecca Hyde, was born in Athens County, Ohio in 1830 and departed this life, Tuesday January 12, 1909, aged 77 years, 11 months and 4 days. On August 24, 1854 she was united in marriage to Rueben Coe and they moved to Lee County, Iowa, on October 24 of the same year. They removed to Scotland County, Missouri in 1856. Mr. and Mrs. Coe were the parents of three children - Ellen Coe, deceased, Mrs. Irene Wainwright of Brock and Charles Coe, deceased, of Woodbine, Iowa. Mrs. Coe's brothers and sisters were David Hyde of Brock, Cyrus Hyde, deceased, William Hyde, Mary S. Ellis, deceased, Jasper Hyde of Monticello, Missouri, and Daniel Hyde of Bowen, Illinois. In early youth deceased united with the Methodist Church and although the eldest of seven children and frail from childhood she met the trials of life with Christian fortitude - the characteristic energy of her nature. She was a devoted wife, mother and sister and will be sadly missed in the home. Her husband preceded her to the spirit world two years ago. Deceased leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, two granddaughters, four brothers, and a host of friends. The sorely stricked ones are grateful to their many friends who so kindly assisted them in their hour of bereavement."
