Virgil Morton Hyde
Virgil Morton Hyde was born October 3, 1907, in Scotland County, Missouri, the son of Horace and Jennie Cone Hyde, and he passed away December 20, 1983, at the home of his son at Luray, Missouri. He was 76 years of age. He was united in marriage to Helen Skyles, September 14, 1927, in Memphis, Missouri, and to this union four sons were born. He is survived by his three sons, Howard, and his wife Connie of Luray, Missouri; Larry, and his wife Kathy, of Danville, Iowa; and Maurice, and his wife Norma, of Eldora, Iowa; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, November 11, 1983, his parents, one son and one brother. Services were held Thursday, December 22, 1983, 10:30 a.m. in the Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri. The Rev. J. Brent Mustoe officiated. The soloist was Kenneth Campbell and the organist was Ann Luther. Pallbearers were: Ray Nelson, Gerald Brunk, Fred Bertram, Kenneth Eggleston, Gene Durham, and Lee Aylward. Burial was in the Brock Cemetery. Arrangements were by Payne-Gerth Funeral Chapel.
