Tyrus Lynn Parker was born to Charles Jacob Parker and Elizabeth Anderson Parker on March 13, 1915, in Hooper, UT. From ages 3 to 12 Ty's family lived in Ammon and Idaho Falls, ID and Ogden, UT, where he attended Mt. Ford Elementary. Ty skipped 7th grade and attended 8th grade in Roy, UT, while helping the family with farming. He lived with his grandparents in Ogden, UT, attended Washington Jr. High and graduated from Ogden High School. Upon graduation he worked for American Pack for 13 years and was employed by Quaker Oats Company in August 1950 remaining in their employ until retirement. Ty married Rosalie Jane Malan on October 3, 1938 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Stephen Malan and Jeffry Tyrus were born in Ogden, UT. In 1956 Ty was transferred to Rockford, IL where Mary Louise was born. The family transferred to New Bedford, MA in 1958 where Ty was in management for Quaker Oats. Ty was a pioneer and a natural leader and was charged with establishing the location, building and operation of the pet food manufacturing plant. In August 1970 the family moved to Huntington Beach, CA where he was plant manager until 1976 and worked in sales until his retirement in 1978. Ty and Rosalie lived in Huntington Beach until 1979 when they moved to Layton, UT. Son, Stephen, passed away January 9, 2002 and Rosalie passed away August 23, 2002. Ty is survived by his son, Dr. Jeffry Parker (Lynda); daughter, Mary Louise Parker Williams (Dr. Tom Anderson); daughter-in-law, Sheila Schick Parker; grandchildren, John Tyrus (Douglas Birch) and Kaitlin Rose Williams (Jamie Richards), Natalie Christine Parker Done (Cody), Katherine, Alexis, and Nicholas Parker and great-grandchildren Mason Malan Parker, Sophia Malan Done and Parker Clayson Done and sister, Donna Parker Kilfoyle (Sterns). Ty loved all sports, played baseball and basketball and was a big Utah Jazz fan. Bowling and golfing were among his pleasures and in his early years he hunted and fished. He and Rosalie enjoyed square dancing. Ty was always generous with his time and opened his doors to people in need. He was active in his church all of his years and helped establish and grow the small branch in New Bedford, MA. Ty died on Dec. 2, 2014 at 99. Services will be held at Myers Mortuary, 250 N Fairfield Rd, Layton, UT 84041, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. viewing prior at 5:30-6:30p.m. Additional viewing will be held Monday, December 15, 2014 10:00 -10:30am.
