John Stavers (1783-1824) was a captain of whaling ships. He was captain of the Coquet of London when he was murdered on the Island of Guam by the Spanish governor of that island. This occured in October 1824. He was the husband of Elizabeth Huggup and the father of two young daughters, Mary E. (1819- ) and Dorothy (1823 - ). Her brother-in-law is George Stavers

Sacred to the Memory of WILLIAM HUGGUP Spittal House in the Parish of Woodhorn who departed this Life Octr 17th 1810 aged 67 Years.
Mary his Wife died May 11th 1822 aged 72 Years.
Elizabeth Daughter of the above and Wife of Captain John Stavers died Nover. 12th 1836 aged 42 Years.
James Son of the above William and Mary Huggup, died Nover. 11th 1839, aged 51 Years. Also Mary Hall(?)Daughter died Jan. 16th 1[8]44 aged 66 Years.
