SARASOTA, FL -- Mary Ann (Poitras) McHugh, 82, of 414 Whitfield Ave., Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully at the Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL, after a brief illness on Saturday, October 24, 2015.
Mary was born in Harvard, MA on Dec. 7, 1932. She was the youngest and last surviving child of Alfred and Ann (Johnson) Poitras. She graduated from Bromfield High School and was a member of St. Theresa's Parish. Mary was the beloved wife of Charles McHugh (deceased). She was a homemaker, proud mother of six children and a kind and steady friend to the many that knew her.
Most recently of Nashua, NH, Mary retired to Florida 11 years ago where she lived with her youngest daughter, Noreen. She was active as a hospital volunteer and in her later years she continued to enjoy gardening, cooking, reading, politics and of course, Tom Brady and the Patriots.
She is survived by five children; Kevin (Attleboro, MA), David (Punta Gorda, FL), Michele (North Andover, MA), Robert (Nashua, NH) and Noreen (Sarasota, FL). She was a special grandmother to her 4 grandchildren; Katherine, Patrick, Nathan, and Nicholas. And a beloved mother-in-law to Betty, Lynn, Luke and Louise. She will be greatly missed by all.
Mary will be laid to rest next her husband, Charlie, and her son, Brian at Bellevue Cemetery in Harvard.
