Robert Glynn Bland, 80 years of age, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, November 5, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born on December 24, 1934, in Tahoka, Texas, to Roy Melvin and Ima Faye (Henry) Bland. He was united in marriage to Karen Mann Bland on December 5, 1986.
Throughout his career, Robert worked as an electrical engineer for the US Department of Transportation, NASA, the Department of Defense, and the Mitre Corporation. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Robert was a member of the East Sunshine Church of Christ in Springfield, Missouri. He served as a co-administrator for seven years for Primetimers at Southern Hills Church of Christ, Abilene, Texas, and as the co-founder of the Burlington Church of Christ in Burlington, Massachusetts. He enjoyed traveling and mission trips to Brazil, Peru, and Honduras.
In his spare time, Robert enjoyed woodworking, reading, working on cars, and general piddling.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Karen; his children: Cynthia Stephenson, Charlene Fryer, James Bland; son-in-laws: Robert Fryer, Lee Murphree, and Mike Gooden; his grandchildren: Bruce Fryer, Meghan Fryer, Zackary Stephenson, Ashley Bland, Ashley Hall, Kristian Travis, Dominic DeMasi, Jamie Chisholm; and a great-granddaughter: Sophie Hall. He is preceded in death by his mother, Ima F. Bland; his father: Roy M. Bland; brother, Royce M. Bland; children: Robin (Gracie) Morphree and June Gooden.
