Ralph W. Sharp, 77, of Marlinton, WV, a loving husband, wonderful father, and terrific grandfather, went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born February 13, 1929, and was the son of the late Norman and Lola Addington Sharp. Ralph was an Army veteran and retired with 30 years of service from the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources. He had previously worked at Union Carbide in South Charleston, WV.

Mr. Sharp was a devout Christian and attended the Marlinton Church of God. He was actively involved in the community and with the Pocahontas County High School football program, assisting them as he carried the chain marker for their team for 31 years.

In addition to his parents, two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.

His wife of 54 years, Jessie L. Elza Sharp; two daughters, Wanda and husband Lannie Harper of Seneca Rock, WV, and Dorinda and husband Terry Weese of Petersburg, WV; son, David B. Sharp and wife Lisa of Morgantown, WV; seven grandchildren: Jeremy and Jon Harper, Kelli Frankhouser, Kristi Walton, Terrica Rumer, Brad Weese, and Reagan Sharp; brothers, Stanford Sharp of Buckhannon, WV, Kenneth Sharp of Buckeye, WV, and Curtis Sharp of Maysville, NC; sisters Thelma White and Erma Wilfong of Minnehaha Springs, WV, and Betty Mullens of Neola, WV survive him.

Pastors Danny Musick and Jerry Moore held funeral services on August 23, 2006 at the Marlinton Church of God. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery.

Ralph's devoted family and many caring friends will miss him dearly. His family would like memorials sent to Hospice Care, Inc., 540 N. Jefferson St., Lewisburg, WV 24901.
