John E. Amos recently passed away at his home in La Habra, California, at the age of 89.John attended Calvert High School were he was an outstanding athlete. He then joined the Marines and became a member of the "Greatest Generation" of our time. In WW II he won commendations for bravery in battles on Iwo-Jima and Guadalcanal. He returned home after the war and became a very successful businessman as President and CEO of the largest chain link fence manufacturer in Southern California.He was preceded in death by five sisters; and six brothers.He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Bella; three daughters, Linda, Pam and Sherry; four grandchildren; two brothers, Bob Amos of Palm Springs, California and Jim Amos of Waco, Texas; and many relatives in Central Texas.He was not only a hero in WWII but also to his family and every one who knew him. We losta "Great American", a brother, husband, friend, father, and grandfather.
