AKERS, Richard L.

of Seminole, passed away Sept. 12, 2012.

He is survived by his wife, Leila; his children, Randy Akers (Debbie), Patty Angell (Kent), Charlene Haines, Rodger Akers, & Diane Charlton (Jim); 14 grandchildren & 17 great-grandchildren.

He was born Dec. 16, 1922 in Cherokee, IA. He graduated from UCLA with honors and co-founded Akers and Hebron Hardware store. He went on to work as a general contractor in Pinellas county and continued to work until his last days. His true passion was serving others and was a member of the Boca Ciega Kiwanis Club for over thirty years. He was also an active member of the Pasedena Community Church and donated much of his time and energy there. He loved to share his joy with all and this could be seen nowhere better than in his gardens. He nurtured his gardens with patience and love just as he did with everyone he met. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18th, 2 pm at Pasedena Community Church. In lieu of flowers you may donate to Suncoast Hospice at thehospice.org or by calling 727- 467-7423
