Mr. Baskin was born in Fulton County, Georgia on July 7, 1938, the son of the late Earl Baskin and Mary Julia Harper Baskin. He served in the Georgia National Guard and the U.S. Air Force, both for four years. He was a Conservation Officer for the state of Georgia for 32 years, worked for the Carroll County Fire Department for nine years as the Assistant EMA Director and was a member of the Carroll County Fire Rescue Dive Team. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Villa Rica.
Survivors include, his wife, Patsy Boatright Baskin; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ricky Watson of Carrollton, Carol and Stanley Jackson of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Windy Baskin of Carrollton; grandchildren and their spouses, Kristy and Shawn Mobley, Bo and Carey Jackson, Mollie and Joseph Hayes, Bonnie and Joel Eidson, Dot and Greg Thomas, Fred Baskin; great grandchildren, Trent Eidson, Kateleigh Jackson, Carson Thomas and Destiny Smith. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Nell Baskin.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Payne, Ed Friend, Tim Padgett, Bud Benefield, Terry Langley and Ricky Jiles. Honorary pallbearers will be the Department of Natural Resources and Sons of the Confederate Veterans.
Graveside service and interment will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Baskin Family Cemetery on Hodge Road with Mr. Gary Thomas officiating. American Legion Post #143 will fold and present the American flag.
