Melchior Danner emigrated from Germany in 1749, along with his father, Jacob and his siblings. They arrived in the U.S. at the port of Philadelphia. From Philadelphia they traveled north, pushing their belongings in a wheelbarrow. Initially, the family settled in Longswamp township in Berks County. But within a few years, Melchoir and his brother Bernhardt (Barnet) settled in the area of Moore Township. Melchoir established a farm in the southwest corner of Moore township near "Danner's pond". In 1785, after having the land surveyed by the Surveyor general, he acquired patent deeds for four tracts of land of nearly 600 acres. In 1797 Melchoir divided up the land between his four sons, Adam, Jacob, Michael, and Abraham. In the summer of 1808 he died and was buried on the farm. Barbara, his wife, died in 1828. They had 5 daughters and 4 sons.
