DUMAS -- Reba Black, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, in The Woodlands.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 653 of Dumas, will conduct the service. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church of Dumas with Dick Brooks, of First Presbyterian Church of Dalhart, officiating.

Mrs. Black was born Sept. 19, 1919, in Chillicothe. She was a resident of The Woodlands for the past four years, and prior to that time she lived in Moore County for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Black was an elder of First Presbyterian Church of Dumas. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star of Dumas, where she served as Worthy Matron twice. She was a member of the 20th Century Study Club. She served as a hospice volunteer. She was named Community Woman of the Year in 1990 by the Dumas Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a Roselady at Memorial Hospital. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

In addition to volunteering, Mrs. Black was with First National Bank from the time of its opening in Dumas until she retired to enjoy her grandchildren. She was also an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed painting, playing bridge, golfing and gardening.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Clouston House for their loving care, to Odyssey Health Care -- and their wonderful hospice caregivers Fe, Shreen, Frances and Rod -- and the staff at the Regent Care Center.

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Black, on Oct. 16, 1986; a granddaughter, Kathy Maurer; a grandson, Tommy Maurer; a sister, Verna Mae Richardson; and a brother, Hal Inman.

Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Gober and husband, Bill, of The Woodlands and Donna Maurer and husband, Boone, of San Antonio; a brother, Elmer Inman and wife, Evelyn, of Mesa, Ariz.; two grandsons, Greg Gober of Houston and Howard Gober and wife, Diane, of Eagle River, Alaska; a granddaughter, Karey Wallace and husband, Bruce, of San Antonio; and five great-grandchildren, Glynn, Dan and Steven Wallace, all of San Antonio, and Malinda and Lee Gober, both of Houston.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Directors.

The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St., Dumas, TX 79029; or First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1118, Dumas, TX 79029; or a favorite charity.
