At an early age his family moved to Graves County, Kentucky, where he grew to manhood. He entered the military service at the age of seventeen years, giving two years of his life to the service of his country in the Civil War.
On December 27, 1865, he was married to Julia Ann Page, who preceded him in death, March 1, 1907.
