Dorothy L.Packard

Dorothy L. Packard Beloved wife, mother and grandmother CANANDAIGUA - Dorothy L. Packard, a resident of the Ontario County Health Facility, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, August 30,2010. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond B.Cook, A World War II pilot, lost in the South Pacific in 1944. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Stuart A. Packard of Canandaigua; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Susan Cook of Canandaigua; grandson, Raymond Cook of Canandaigua; and her therapy dog and beloved pet, Cookie. Packard was born in Walworth,N.Y. and was the daughter of Franklin J. and Glady M. (Tuttle) Lawrence. She was a graduate of Walworth High School. Mrs. Packard earned degrees from William Smith College and Syracuse University. She worked as a librarian for many years, retiring as head librarian of the Children's Room at the Pittsford Community Library. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canandaigua and the Palmyra Eastern Star. She gave generously of her time as a volunteer at FF Thompson Hospital, in the years following her retirement. Mrs. Packard enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family. There will be no calling hours. Services are private. Interment will be in Palmyra Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wood Library, 134 North Main Street, Canandaigua,NY 14454. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home Inc. Canandaigua.
