Mrs. Melton was a devoted Christian lady and made sure those values were instilled in her own children. She was a faithful member of United Baptist Church where she served in many capacities through the years.
Mrs. Melton's passion was her family. She adored her four granddaughters and their families. Nothing would make her face light up more than getting to see her 6 great grandchildren and was looking forward to her seventh great grandchild due in February 2016.
She loved to cook and prepare meals for her family and friends. Working in her flower garden,
growing vegetables, and canning were some of her favorite activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Huey Melton, parents Cicero and Lillie Adams, stepmother Dorothy Adams, and sisters Janice Heard and Etha Lee Baten.
She is survived by her children Dr. Glen Melton and wife Rhonda of Bastrop, La, Judy Davis and husband Glenn of Pineville, La; grandchildren Erin Klitzke and husband Kyle, Rebecca Edwards and husband Jacob, Lori Mathews and husband John, and Kelly Bernard and husband Jonathan; great grandchildren Amelia and Hannah Klitzkee, Luke and Lucy Claire Edwards, Emorie and Jett Mathews, and Baby Bernard due in February; sister, Annie Bell Walker, Minden, La.; half-sisters, Mary Carpenter, Dodson, La., Ellen Butler, Arcadia, La.; sister-in-law, Mamie Younger, Baton Rouge, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 2 pm at United Baptist Church, Hwy 472, Winnfield, LA. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm
at United Baptist Church and again on Wednesday from noon until service time.
Kyle Klitzke, Jacob Edwards, John Mathews, Jonathan Bernard, Buddy Heard, and Trey Wicker will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Melton, James Melton, and the deacon body of United Baptist Church.
The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Brenda Moerchen, her niece and caregiver, for her devotion and love over the last two years.
