Ruth Blanche Paitrick, 96 of Hermantown passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015 in St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born November 29, 1918 in Gowan to Adolph and Mary Dahlberg. Ruth grew up in Floodwood and graduated from Floodwood High School. She worked at Diamond Match in Cloquet in the mid 1950’s. In 1957 she went to work as a nurse’s aide at Nopeming Nursing Home until retiring in 1980.
Ruth was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of the Lake Superior Chippewa. She volunteered at the Evergreen Senior Center in West Duluth. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Ruth was still vegetable gardening and canning when she was 86. She enjoyed sewing, especially stuffed animals.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward Petersen, George Fox and Fred Paitrick; son, David Fox; and siblings, Carl, Albert, Marie, Hilda, Christine, Mathilda, and Oscar.
She is survived by five children, Shirley (Crash) Carlson of Proctor, George (Val) Fox, Jr. of Cloquet, Gerald (Mary) Fox of Arizona, Patrick (Tracy) Paitrick and Daniel Paitrick both of Hermantown; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and a great great great granddaughter due in December.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Lauri Ann Kitto for taking such good care of Ruth for the past year.
Visitation: 1:00 until the 2:00 p.m. Memorial Service Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in the Atkins Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St., Cloquet. Lunch will follow in the ENP. Inurnment will be in Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Floodwood.
