Mary Ruth McChesney passed away peacefully Aug. 31, 2015, in Menifee, CA.

Born at home March 2, 1950 to John and Alma (Stampfley) McChesney, Mary was one of seven children and grew up on a farm in the Adams-Friendship, WI area. She was a class of 1968 graduate of Tri-County High School in Plainfield, WI, and soon moved to Ripon, WI. She was married to Richard Beilke from 1979-1996.

She worked in several places during her time in Ripon, including Speed Queen and several years at Ripon Drug. Mary became an entrepreneur and opened Body Wraps t-shirt shop in downtown Ripon, a business she had for several years. After closing that store, she started M&M Home Healthcare Plus, LLC and Open Arms Assisted Living in Green Lake.

Mary’s adventurous spirit could not be contained. She eventually moved to California to be close to her family there. She lived in Vacaville, Sacramento, and finally bought a home in Hemet, CA.

She did community outreach and was active in her churches, including St. Patrick’s of Ripon, Ripon Community Church, Discovery/Journey Church in Elk Grove, CA and Dwelling Place in Hemet, CA, where she helped feed the homeless. She was active in Elks Club and PEO, an adult sorority that raises money for women’s education. She made friends wherever she went and was very active in Hemet, often having themed dinner parties with live entertainment and 4 star menus for up to 70 people in her housing community. She wished to be a big part of her children’s and grandchildren’s lives and she definitely achieved that goal.

Mary lived a life of hard work, fun, and giving. She loved to travel, cook, read, socialize, and laugh with family and friends. She had a boundless spirit, a quirky sense of humor, a ready smile, and will be greatly and forever missed by those who survived her. They include daughter Heather (McChesney) Bennett, son-in-law Christian Bennett, granddaughter Bailey and grandson Riley Bennett of Hemet, CA; daughter Colleen Beilke of Hemet, CA; sister Doris Van Airsdale of Fond du Lac, WI; brother Jack (Shirley) McChesney of Beavercreek, OH; brother Gary McChesney of Plainfield, WI; brother Scott (Darlene) McChesney of Almond, WI; dozens of nieces and nephews across the US, sister-in-spirit Sue (Jeff) Harteau of Fond du Lac, WI; family friends Julie and Rebecca Pizzitola of Hemet, CA; best friend LaVona Tomberlin of Hemet, CA and many friends around the world. She was preceded in death by father John, mother Alma, brothers Larry and Robert McChesney, nephew Dwayne Van Airsdale, and sister-in-law Diane McChesney.

The family will have a small gathering in CA, followed by a friends and family celebration of life in Ripon in late September. Online condolences may be sent to [email protected] or posted to Mary’s Facebook page.
